Note: Most of my posts are Friends Only. If you want me to add you, say hi in some fashion..explain yourself. If you're not an inane asshat, I'll probably add you.
If you are, don't try to hide it, I'll probably spot it, and one should be true to their nature, no? My posts consist mainly of poemie-scraps and 'grr argh' social commentary, as I can never possibly do anything that will matter to my liking on this front, it's shades of minorly comforting.

Note II: If you feel I don't respond to your posts often enough, I only respond when I feel I have something to say. I don't just respond to respond. And if I almost never respond, it doesn't mean I don't read you.

Has anyone ever seen Karen Finley perform? She has been a fascination of mine for a bit now...

'THE BLACK SHEEP'

An excerpt from a poem from ''We Keep Our Victims Ready'' by Karen Finley, 1988

you know I only see you at funerals.
It's been 3 since June -
been 5 since June for me -
He said I've made a vow -
I only go to death parties if I knew someone before they were sick -
Why?
Cause - cause - cause I feel I feel here so sad cause I never knew their life
and now I only know their death
And because I am a member of the
Black Sheep family - We are sheep
with no shepherd -
We are sheep with no straight & narrow
We are sheep with no meadow
We are sheep who take the dangerous pathway thru the mountain range
to get to the other side of our soul.
We are the black sheep of the family
called Black Sheep folk.
We always speak our mind
appreciate differences in culture
believe in sexual preference
believe in no racism
no sexism
no religionism -
and we'll fight for what we believe
but usually we're pagans.
There's always one in every family
Even when we're surrounded by bodies
we're always alone -
You're born alone and you die alone
written by a black sheep.
You can't take it with you -
written by a former black sheep.
Black Sheep folk look different from their family
It's the way they look at the world
We're a quirk of nature -
We're a quirk of fate -
Usually our family, our city, our country never understands us -
We knew this from when we were very young that we weren't meant to be understood.
That's right. That's our job.
Usually we're not appreciated until the next generation.
That's our life. That's our story.
Usually we're outcasts, outsiders in our own family.
Don't worry - get used to it.

“ ...in spite of or in defiance of the whole of existence he wills to be himself with it, to take it along, almost defying his torment. For to hope in the possibility of help, not to speak of help by virtue of the absurd, that for God all things are possible -- no, that he will not do. And as for seeking help from any other -- no, that he will not do for all the world; rather than seek help he would prefer to be himself -- with all the tortures of hell, if so it must be. ”

Batman is my happy place, Batman is sorely needed justice on my terms.
The Dark Knight filled me with adrenaline to the point where I was shaking with anticipation, and cry with frustration and sadness at the cascades of reality represented, but also gratitude that I have lived to see this film. In IMAX. It fulfilled my expectations, and soared beyond them. Christopher Nolan can do no wrong, and I was quite grateful that he had more creative control this time...oh ho ho, it showed! There were shades of Nolan everywhere...including his choices of music placement. I loved how there were scenes with nothing but the dialogue and action sounds. I loved that the Joker theme reminded me of Memento music. I loved every single thing about the movie. While watching it I had continual braingasms and reached Nirvana.

I wore my Batman t-shirt and brought a Batman mask that Rod got me, along with a little punching Joker toy from me Lucky Charms. Kitty swayed me on buying it, and I caved, I caved oh so easily.

Heath Ledger's performance made me exponentially sad that he has passed. He was fucking amazing...this was the vision of the Joker than evoked the true, twisted, chaotic madness that is synonymous with the character, for me. The film was about 2hrs. 30mins., and kept me, and everyone else, for that matter, focused as though what was on the screen was the only thing that mattered in the world. I aspire to have the creative control and prowess to make something of that caliber. My hope in modern filmmaking was reinforced, and I left the theater on a bliss high, grinning deeply and dancing on air for the remainder of the night. Fuck. Even today...I'm going to write today; alot.

There is more, so much more, but that is perhaps best saved for a spoiler-laden post of the near-future.

Ooh! And shiny shiny trailer for The Watchmen played, which had the fucking great Pumpkins' The Beginning Is the End Is the Beginning layed over the drool-inducing clippage.

::edit::

Mmmkay, so the movie theatre fucked up and listed the showing as 12:05am Thurs., so we show up last night all a-rush due to construction detours and Kitty coming back from a friend's going away party in the 'Nard, and it turnd out the showing is really Fri. 12:05am, and there are signs in the windows claiming that it's just the way the computer interprets things and it's right. RAGE. I was more upset at the fact that they couldn't take responsibility for their fuck-up. Waste of gas and time. Ah well, it is...

The Dark Knight tonight at midnight. The movie I've been anticipating the most this year.

This to counter the sadness I'm feeling over a lot of lost footage that I went to school to pick up. More on that later.

:: Viva La Vida
Strident, string-led cinematic opus featuring lyrics about cavalries, missionaries and kings.
(Bassist)Guy (Berryman): “It’s a story about a king who’s lost his kingdom, and all the album’s artwork is based on the idea of revolutionaries and guerrillas. There’s this slightly anti-authoritarian viewpoint that’s crept into some of the lyrics and it’s some of the pay-off between being surrounded by governments on one side, but also we’re human beings with emotions and we’re all going to die and the stupidity of what we have to put up with every day. Hence the album title.”

I just finished watching the latter half of The Pledge...I've seen it once before, and it's amazing. The end just kills me though...I can see myself becoming like that all too easily.

It's one of the most frustrating endings of a movie I've ever watched, but I'm so glad they did it that way. Sean Penn is one great director.

Cat-sitting
My friend asked me to take care of her cat at my place for the weekend, and it has been a wonderful stress-reliever, as well as being fun. The only thing is that I wish Tessa(short for Contessa wouldn't claw at my feet while I'm sleeping or jump onto the bed right into Justin's face, waking him up temporarily. But other than that, she's been great to have around. Yay animals.
